At 1 pm on July 19, August 2, August 16 and August 30th, Rabbi Daniel Swartz of Temple Hesed will lead a class/discussion group on “Sacred Aging: Navigating Senior Years and the End of Life.” This class, designed both for those in their senior years and those caring for elderly family or friends, will be held at the Scranton JCC and is free and open to the public. The class will explore both ancient and modern Jewish wisdom on how to make decisions about where and how to live, how to make difficult decisions about care and interventions, the role of children and grandchildren and more. We’ll also look at “Ethical Wills,” how we hand down our values to future generations.

The course will utilize some of the lessons shared on SacredAging.com, developed by Rabbi Richard Address, and it is co-sponsored by the JCC and Jewish Family Service of Northeastern Pennsylvania. While the class is free, pre-registration is required so that there are sufficient copies of all class materials. Please email templehesed@comcast.net or call 570-344-7201 to register.
