Meet Your Scranton JCC Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers
Jo Ackers
AFAA certified instructor for over 30 years, Jo’s classes include pilates yoga stretch, cardio, weights, cycling, senior classes, Chronic disease, Parkinson’s cycling, and various youth programs.
Pat has over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry. In addition to being an American Council Of Exercise (ACE )group exercise instructor, Pat is also a Personal Trainer at the JCC. Pat leads our Silver Sneakers classes which are for those age 65 and older. And she is currently taking new personal training clients.
Jessica Johnson (JJ)
Jessica cares deeply about her clients and helping them on their journey to being happy, confident, and strong. Since 2010 Jessica has been teaching professionally and invites all fitness levels to participate in her classes including Strength Training, Strong, Floatfit, Aqua Zumba, and Log Rolling. She also is a NASM CPT and nutritional coach.
Carli Kalinoski
Megan Mizanty
Megan Mizanty (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator, with a multi-faceted history in movement, text, and sound.
As an educator, Megan served as Associate Professor of Dance and Assistant Director of the Master in Fine Arts Program at Wilson College, where she taught courses in interdisciplinary collaboration, Pilates, Somatics, contemporary technique, dance history, and feminist perspectives in movement. Beyond dance, Megan is a 200-RYS/30-Yin yoga instructor, certified through the inclusive ideologies of Ohm Grown Yoga in New Jersey. Her primary interests in yoga include Yin, trauma-based Vinyasa flow, and meditation + movement practices. Megan believes movement is the gateway to an empowered, joyful life. Her teaching philosophy is student-entered, with an emphasis on community building and self-inquiry.
Mindy Van Fleet
Mindy has been a Certified Afaa instructor at the JCC for over 23 years. She is also the JCC Facilities Director. She leads many of our county-funded senior classes for those age 60 and over, including Are Barre Yoga, Senior Yoga, Silver and Fit, Silver Sneakers, and Zumba Gold.
Chavy Schwartz
Chavy teaches Dancercise class at the Scranton JCC! Her passions include dancing, being active, and living a healthy lifestyle. Dancercise is an hour of high-energy exercise, but most of all, it’s a lot of fun!
