Make a Splash at the JCC

The Aquatics Department offers a variety of fun and therapeutic exercise classes, recreational and lap swimming in a safe, comfortable swimming environment. Our new state-of-the-art, sparkling clear, heated pool is waiting for you to enjoy its many benefits.


Lap & open swim is available throughout the day during designated hours.  Lap swimming is great for cardiovascular fitness, endurance and stroke technique.  Open swim is great for recreational swimming, or just enjoying the pool with your children, family or friends! Use of the pool for lap swimming or open swimming is free for members.  We also offer male-only and female-only swim times.

Private lessons are available for all ages from 3 years to adult.  Students are taught water safety, aquatic independence and stroke development.  Lessons are taught by Red Cross Certified Lifeguards.   Only private lessons are offered.

These private, one on one introductory lessons are designed to teach water orientation, techniques for working with your child to become more comfortable in the water and basic water safety. Stroke work is added for children 2 to 3 years of age. Parent accompanies child in the pool.
  • Private, one on one lessons are now available for parents and children 9 months to 3 years.
  • Registration and pre-payment is required. (Fees:$70.00/4 lessons. Member rate $60.00/4 lessons )



A high intensity workout using buoyancy and resistance equipment. Shallow and deep water exercises are used. You do not have to know to swim, but you will get wet!

A low intensity class designed for increasing flexibility, range of motion, balance and strength benefitting those with arthritis.  Shallow water exercises only.  Led by a Certified Arthritis Water Exercise instructor.

  • Arthritis Water Exercise is a Lackawanna County Department of Aging funded class.  You must be 60 years or older to participate.
  • $2.00 donation per class is welcome


A medium intensity class with  emphasis on toning, balance and strength. Some resistance equipment is used. Shallow water exercises are used.

A high intensity class that blends Zumba dance with resistance equipment in the water.  Shallow and deep water exercises are used.  Be prepared to get wet!
