Armenian Shalom Decorative Plate (A)

This elegantly designed, handmade Armenian ceramic decorative plate features "Shalom" in Hebrew and English surrounded by a wreath of flowers and a dove holding an olive branch. In the Bible, the word shalom is most commonly used to refer to a state of affairs, one of well‑being, tranquility, prosperity, and security, circumstances unblemished by any sort of defect. Shalom is a blessing, a manifestation of divine grace. The dove symbolizes peace.  The dove was the first animal to venture outside Noah's Ark as the flood waters subsided. Noah sent it to seek out inhabitable land. When it returned with an olive branch, he realized that G-d had indeed forgiven the human race and that it was time to reclaim the Earth. (Genesis 8:11)
